Bomb Squad Dog, Officer Recognized for Work in Evanston

The team discovered and disarmed a bomb that was placed behind an Evanston Police Department outpost.

A Cook County Sheriff’s Police bomb squad officer and his canine partner Rocky recently received the Chicago Crime Commission’s Stars of Distinction Paws of Distinction award for work done in Evanston, according to Triblocal.

Officer David Stanly and the canine were called to the Evanston police outpost on Howard Street in June to investigate . Rocky discovered a bomg containing shrapnel, glass, nails and a .22-caliber round of ammunition, police told TribLocal.
