Burglar Threatens Victim With Knife In Home Invasion

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

Arrests: Retail Theft, DUI, Aggravated Assault

Glenn Childress, 55, of the 6900 block of North Ashland Street in Chicago, was arrested and charged with retail theft after he allegedly stole food from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue at 7:44 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, police reported.

David Solomon Ucker, 58, of the 2700 block of Park place in Evanston, was arrested and charged with retail theft after he allegedly stole a water filter from a hardware store in the 2300 block of Oakton Street at 7:39 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, according to police.

John Lester Demand III, 27, of the 500 block of Hazelwood in Glenview, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in the 1800 block of Oakton Street at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, police reported.

Samuel E. McLaughlin, 26, of the 600 block of Hinman Avenue in Evanston, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 3:05 a.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at the intersection of Lincoln Street and Sherman Avenue, according to police. 

Joe Norman, 47, of the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue in Evanston, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault at 4:47 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue, police reported.

A 39-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, according to police.

Bryan Alexander Torres, 23, of the 2000 block of Warren Street in Evanston, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, in the 800 block of Wesley Avenue, police reported.

Report of Shots Fired On Main, Lake, Brown

Police investigated a report that there was a man riding a bike with a gun between 3:48 and 3:57 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at the intersection of Main Street and Dodge Avenue. Officers found nothing in the area. 

Police investigated a report that there was a man with a gun in the 1500 block of Lake Street at 1:29 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25. Nothing was found in the area. 

Police investigated a report that someone had fired shots in the 1700 block of Brown Avenue at 11:12 p.m. Thanksgiving day. Nothing was found in the area. 

Burglar Threatens Victim With Knife on Greenleaf

A man broke into a home in the 1800 block of Greenleaft Street and threatened the resident with a knife at 9:18 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, according to police. The burglar stole a Sony laptop computer, black Microsoft Xbox gaming system and a brown Louis Vuitton purse with yellow cloth inside.  

Man Cuts Victim With Scissors at Barber Shop

A man cut someone with scissors during an aggravated battery at a barber shop in the 700 block of Howard Street at 7:36 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, police reported. 

Honda Left Running, Stolen On Dobson

Someone stole a 1997 Honda that was left running with the doors open at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, in the 700 block of Dobson Street, police reported.

Burglar Steals Computers, Cameras, Flat-Screen TV on Emerson

Someone entered a home in the 2200 block of Emerson Street through an unlocked window between 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, and 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, according to police. The burglar stole an Apple desktop computer, Canon camera, JVC camera, Philips flat-screen TV, HP printer, C Gate hard drive, Cisco internet router, Dell computer monitor and computer speakers.

Burglar Breaks In To Home On Cleveland

Someone broke the window of a home in the 1400 block of Cleveland Street at 9:28 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, police reported. It is unknown whether anything was stolen. 

Car Burglars Steal Checkbook, iPod, GPS

Someone stole a checkbook from an unlocked 1998 Nissan parked in the 1800 block of Madison Street between 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, and 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, according to police. 

Someone stole a mint green Apple iPod from an unlocked 2007 Chevrolet parked in the 2400 block of Bradley Place between 5 and 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, according to police.

Someone broke the window of a 2007 Lexus parked in the 2600 block of Bennett Avenue and stole a TomTom GPS unit between 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, and 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, according to police.

Someone broke the window of a 1999 Volkswagen parked in the 1800 block of Hinman Avenue and stole a GPS unit between 7 and 11:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, according to police.

Someone broke the window of a 2005 Toyota parked in the 1700 block of Orrington Avenue between 4:15 and 4:22 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, according to police. Nothing was reported stolen.

Someone broke the door lock of a 2007 Dodge parked in the 1700 block of Hovland Court and stole documents between 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, and 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, police reported.

Bike Stolen On Park Place

Someone stole a small, black and green Trek mountain bicycle that was left unlocked in a yard in the 2300 block of Park Place between 4 and 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving day. 

Graffiti Appears On Construction Site

Someone left graffiti on a construction site in the 1700 block of Ridge Avenue between 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, and 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, police reported.
