Car Burglar Caught in the Act on Howard

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

Gunman Reported on Foster
Evanston police investigated a report that there was a man with a gun in the 1600 block of Foster Street at 10:39 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3. 

Arrests: Domestic Battery, Aggravated Assault
A 64-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 8:01 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, according to police.

Matthew Michael Tuteur, 32, of the 6700 block of North Glenwood Avenue in Chicago, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault at the Evanston Police Station at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, police reported. 

Copper Pipe Stolen On Lyons
Someone stole approximately 20 feet of copper pipe from a yard in the 1800 block of Lyons Street between Nov. 24 and Dec. 4, according to police. 

Car Burglar Caught in the Act
A man saw someone trying to enter his car at Howard Street and Custer Avenue at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, according to police. When the offender realized he had been spotted, he ran away, police said. 

Tools Stolen From Storage Shed
Someone stole tools from a storage shed in the 1900 block of Dempster Street between 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, and 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, according to police. 

Chairs Stolen On Hurd
Someone stole iron outdoor chairs from a yard in the 2600 block of Hurd Avenue around between Nov. 1 and Dec. 4, police reported.

Graffiti Appears On Sherman, Elmwood
Graffiti appeared on a business in the 1300 block of Sherman Avenue at 11:51 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, according to police.

Graffiti appeared in an apartment or condo common area in the 1200 block of Elmwood Avenue between 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, and 7:56 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, according to police.
