Tactical officers saw Thomas driving a car that matched the description of the vehicle used in the robbery while on patrol on Wednesday night, according to police. When they ran the license plate of the vehicle, they learned it had been stolen in Chicago. Police took the driver into custody after he and two other occupants of the car attempted to flee police in the 2000 block of West Fargo Avenue, police said.

Police recovered a bank card that belonged to the woman who had been robbed when they took Thomas into custody, and on Friday, Jan. 18, she identified Thomas in a lineup at the Evanston Police Department.
