Evanston police charged a 21-year-old Chicago man in connection with two burglaries that took place in Evanston in November.
Shawn Wawryk, of the 5800 block of North Spaulding Avenue, was charged with two counts of residential burglary, a felony, according to police.
Detectives charged Warwryk based on information he provided to the Chicago Police Department about committing two burglaries in Evanston after he was arrested in Chicago for a similar offense on Tuesday, police said.
When Evanston Police detectives interviewed Wawryk on Wednesday, he admitted to committing two local burglaries, one in the 2400 block of Marcy Avenue on Nov. 5, and the second in the 3200 block of Hartzell Street on Nov. 27, according to police.
In the second incident, police say he broke the window lock of the home, then stole gold hoop earrings with diamonds, aquamarine stud earrings, 1/3 karat diamond stud earrings, a Movado watch with a silver band and face, a Seiko watch with a gold face and black leather strap, and cash.
Wawryk is set to appear in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie at 9 a.m. on Jan 3., 2013.
