Chicago Man Charged With Armed Home Invasion in Evanston, Police Say

Police arrested and charged a 24-year-old Chicago man with home invasion, after officials say he forced his way into an Evanston home and threatened to kill the residents with a loaded gun.

Lamont. P. Hall, 24, of the 4900 block of South Prairie Avenue in Chicago, is charged with home invasion and aggravated unlawful restraint, both felonies, as well as aggravated assault, a misdemeanor. At the time of his arrest, he was out on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections after serving three years of a six-year sentence for armed robbery.

Police responded to a 9-11 call about a man with a gun in the 700 block of Dobson Street just after midnight on Monday, Feb. 4. Hearing screams from inside an apartment, officers forced their way in as Hall ran out the back, according to police. Officers caught him as he attempted to run away, police said. 

Hall entered the apartment armed with a gun, looking for the 28-year-old female resident’s sister, with whom he has a relationship, according to police. He displayed a gun and threatened to kill the woman and her four nieces and nephews, who were also at home, police said.

Police later found a loaded .32-caliber revolver during their investigation of the crime scene. 

Hall is currently being held on $300,000 bond in the Cook County Department of Corrections, according to police. He is set to appear in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie at 9 a.m. on Feb. 22.
