Craigslist Scammers Rob Man of $5,000 in Evanston

The following information was reported by Evanston Police on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013. Where arrests are included, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

Man Robbed of $5,000 at Knifepoint

A 29-year-old Skokie man was robbed at knifepoint Tuesday after he went to Evanston believing he was going to buy a car that had been listed on Craigslist.

When he arrived in the 900 block of Monroe Street around 5:30 p.m., two men with a knife stole the $5,000 he was carrying in cash, according to police.    

Evanston police detectives are investigating the incident.

Gunfire Reported Near ETHS

Police investigated a report that someone fired a gun in the 1600 block of Dodge Avenue at 6:41 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, according to police. Nothing was found in the area.

Ford Focus Stolen On Sheridan Road

Someone stole four-door, 2010 Ford Focus parked in the 1400 block of Sheridan Road at 10:02 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, according to police. The car has the license plate L302675.

Chicago Woman Charged With Identity Theft

April M. Williams, 27, of the 6700 block of South Campbell in Chicago, was arrested and charged with two counts of identity theft at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, after she tried to charge several thousands of dollars on a card that wasn’t hers, according to police

Men Steal iPad On Sheridan Square

Two men stole an Apple iPad that was left unattended in the 1400 block of Sheridan Square around 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, according to police.

Package Stolen On Church Street

Someone stole a package containing Pure Barre athletic equipment that was delivered to an apartment or condo in the 800 block of Church Street between 2 and 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, according to police.

Graffiti Appears On Brummel, Asbury

Graffiti appeared in a park in the 600 block of Brummel Street at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, according to police.

Graffiti appeared on train property in the 200 block of Asbury Avenue at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, police reported.
