EPD Makes Arrests in Robbery Case

A notice from the Evanston Police Department.

On 09/14/11 at approx. 12:25 pm, Evanston Police responded to a call of an armed robbery at Emerson St. and Brown Ave.  Police made contact with two victims ages 17 and 18 who related that five male juveniles had robbed them taking money and a cell phone with one of the offenders being armed with a silver colored handgun.

 

The victims related that the offenders  then fled on foot and were observed running into a house in the 1900 block of Emerson Ave.  Police then responded to the house in which the offenders were seen running into and police were able to locate five subjects in the residence that the victims subsequently identified as the offenders who committed the robbery. Police detectives were able to recover a cell phone and currency from the location where the offenders were taken into custody. These items were also identified as belonging to the victims.  Police were unable to locate a firearm that was reported as being used in the incident.

As a result of the police investigation, five juveniles from 13 to 15 years in age were all charged each with one count of aggravated robbery. Two of the juveniles charged were remanded to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center and the other three were given non-secured custody status.
