Gigi Galich, 55, was traveling eastbound in the bike lane along Church Street, when she crossed into the path of the motorcycle, also traveling eastbound, at about 9 a.m. Monday, June 30. Galich, who was wearing a helmet, was seriously hurt and received a head injury that required surgery at Evanston Hospital.

Galich had worked at the library since 1976 when she was hired as a page. She eventually earned a master's degree in Library and Information Science and was promoted to librarian in the Children's Services Department in November of 2013.

"Gigi was energetic, dedicated and passionate," Evanston Public Library Director Karen Danczak Lyons stated in the release. "She will be greatly missed. Her work will on through the many, many children who learned to love reading and coming to the library for books, crafts, stories and fun."

The time and location of services have not been determined yet.
