Evanston Man, 18, Died in Howard Street Car Crash

An 18-year-old man from Evanston died last night when the car he was driving lost control and crashed into a tree in the 2900 block of Howard Street, according to police.

An 18-year-old man from Evanston was killed when the car he was driving lost control and crashed into a tree on Howard Street last night.

Kevoyn Cox, of the 800 block of Dodge Avenue in Evanston, was identified as the driver, according to a representative from the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control and slammed into a tree in 2900 block of Howard Street Thursday night. Four passengers were taken to various hospitals with non-life threatening injuries and are now in stable condition, police said. A sixth occupant ran away on foot.

A spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department told Patch that, as of Friday afternoon, police were still investigating the incident and searching for the passenger who ran away.
