Evanston Man, 44, Escapes Injury In Shooting On Dodge

A 44-year-old Evanston man was unhurt after someone fired shots from a car in the 1900 block of Dodge Avenue early Thursday morning, according to police.

The victim said that a black man in a red hooded sweatshirt fired at him from a maroon Oldsmobile Cutlass around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, according to Evanston Police Cmdr. Jason Parrott. Police also found several shell casings in the area.

Parrott said police don’t believe Thursday’s shooting was related to another shooting on the south side of Evanston, which took place around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. In that incident, a man was shot in the 700 block of Dobson Street, but did not cooperate with police, according to Parrott. Police also found shell casings in the area and a van with bullet holes in the 100 block of Custer Street.

He said that shooting, along with a shooting in the 7400 block of North Hoyne Avenue in Chicago last week, where a 15-year-old boy was injured, may both be gang-related. Furthermore, he said police believe the two incidents on either side of Howard Street may also be related. 

Police have not identified any suspects in either of the two shootings in Evanston, according to Parrott.
