Evanston Man Charged in Skokie Cat Burglaries

An 18-year-old has been charged with eight counts of home burglary and 12 counts of vehicle burglaries. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

The Skokie Police Department released the following statement Wednesday evening.

Criminal charges have been filed against Lorenzo Jones, 18 years of age, 1400 block of Fowler Ave., Evanston, in connection with numerous overnight Residential Cat Burglary and Burglary to Motor Vehicle cases.

The cat burglaries which occurred between August 3, 2013 and August 25, 2013, took place in the Northeast area of Skokie, which included the Williamsburg Village and Timber Ridge subdivisions.  Jones was charged with eight counts of Residential Burglary and 12 counts of Burglary to Motor Vehicles.  Additional charges are pending as a result of this investigation.

This arrest is a direct result of teamwork between multiple local police agencies.  The Skokie Police Department would like to recognize the following agencies for their dedication in assisting our agency’s efforts toward bringing the above offender to justice.  The North Regional Major Crime Burglary Task Force, the Evanston Tactical Unit, and the Skokie Tactical Mission Team are to be commended on their efforts, which led to this arrest and several other arrests in the Chicagoland area.
