Evanston Police Arrest Chicago Man With Cannabis, Handgun and $5,000

Evanston police executed a search warrant in Rogers Park and arrested a Chicago man who they say was dealing drugs illegally in Evanston.

Evanston police arrested a Chicago man on charges of dealing marijuana after they searched his Rogers Park home and found 215 grams of cannabis, a .38 caliber handgun and more than $5,000 in cash.

Police say they obtained a search warrant for Marwan Rahim, his vehicle and his home, in the 2900 block of West Pratt Boulevard as part of their investigation of illegal drug sales in Evanston, Skokie and Rogers Park. Officers from the Evanston Police Department’s Special Operations Group arrested Rahim, who is 26, and charged him with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis, both felony counts. He is also charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and possession of a firearm without a valid firearm owner’s ID, both misdemeanors, according to police. 

Rahim is set to appear in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

The arrest comes just two days after Evanston police arrested and charged a 26-year-old Skokie man with dealing marijuana. On Monday, police executed a search warrant at a home in the 4800 block of Greenleaf Street in Skokie. They arrested Donte D. Kennedy, 22, after they found 65 grams of cannabis at the residence. He is charged with  charged him with unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, both felonies, according to police.
