Evanston Police Arrest Midnight Car Burglar

The man was arrested at 4 a.m. on Valentine's Day.

Evanston police have arrested a man who was spotted trying to break into cars on Valentine's Day morning.

Stephen Anthony Craig, of Evanston, was spotted at 4 a.m. on Feb. 14 looking into cars and trying out the door handles near Clyde Avenue and Brummel Street.

Police stopped Craig as he exited a car on the 100 block of Callen, and he attempted to flee. Officers detained him and Craig was later charged with one felony count of burglary to vehicle.

His court date has been set for March 22.
