Evanston Police Make 42 DUI Arrests During Holiday Crackdown

The department conducted a holiday traffic safety initiative from June 17 to July 4.

The Evanston Police Department made arrests and gave citations for 42 DUI cases and 36 seatbelt violations during a holiday safety initiative that ran from mid June through the 4th of July weekend.

The campaign was intended to increase road safety, and officers used highly visible enforcement areas to round up violators.

The department has conducted similar initiatives in the past and said it will conduct them again in the future.

Here are the total numbers of arrests and citations given during the mobilization:

  • Seat Belt violations: 36
  • No proof of Valid Insurance: 8
  • Suspended Drivers License: 1
  • Cell Phone ordinance Violations: 38
  • Other Traffic Offenses: 42
  • DUI arrests: 42
