Evanston 'Salon Bandit' Charged in DuPage Robberies; Faces Maximum of 120 Years in Prison

Jason Logsdon, 41, of Evanston, was charged with four armed robberies in DuPage County. He was charged earlier for robberies in Niles, Skokie and Chicago. He faces up to 120 years in prison.

An Evanston man already charged in 11 business and hair salon robberies in the northern suburbs was charged Friday with robbing a Glen Ellyn Great Clips, along with three other businesses in Lombard.

Jason Logsdon, 41, of the 900 block of Chicago Avenue, Evanston, was charged with allegedly robbing four DuPage County businesses in the past two months, according to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin.

He was charged with four counts of armed robbery, each a Class X Felony punishable by up to 30 years in jail. The law allows for the sentences to be served consecutively, making it possible that Logsdon could serve a maximum sentence of 120 years.

Logsdon was charged earlier in the week with robbing 11 businesses in the northern suburbs, including hair salons in Skokie, Niles and the city of Chicago. Quoting an unknown source, WGN reported that Logsdon executed the robberies to support a cocaine and crack habit.

The Glen Ellyn hair salon robbery took place around 10:50 a.m. on Jan. 3 at the Great Clips located at 692 Roosevelt Road. At the time of the incident, employees told police the man entered the Great Clips, displayed a gun and demanded money. He left the store with a small, undisclosed amount of cash and was seen walking east.

In addition to the Glen Ellyn robbery, Logsdon is implicated in the following other robberies in DuPage County:

  • Smokers Best located on York Road in Bensenville. Police said Logsdon robbed the business on Dec. 26, 2012, at about 9:55 a.m.
  • Sport Clips located on Roosevelt Road in Lombard. Police said Logsdon robbed the business on Dec. 27, 2012, at about 6:11 p.m.
  • Hair Cuttery located on Roosevelt Road in Lombard. Police said Logsdon robbed the business on Jan. 2, 2013, at about 10:42 a.m.

Berlin said in a news release that Logsdon would enter the business disguised and armed with a pellet gun. He would point the gun at an employee and demand money. Once he received the money, he would leave on foot.

“Mr. Logsdon’s alleged crime spree knew no boundaries,” Berlin said in the release. “He allegedly went where he thought the easy money would be.”

Logsdon was arrested in the 200 block of Lake Street in Elmhurst Monday a few hours after a Wicker Park Great Clips was robbed of about $250, Patch reported.

“This case also exemplifies the importance of the public’s cooperation in solving crimes,” Glen Ellyn Deputy Police Chief Bill Holmer said in the news release. “I applaud the witnesses for their strength and willingness to do their part in stopping this offender.”
