Evanston Woman Jumps on Car Being Wrongfully Towed

The towing company later acknowledged it was supposed to tow another car up the street.

No one wants to look out their window to see their car being towed. And especially not when it’s sitting in your legal parking spot.

But that’s exactly what happened to an Evanston woman who was told by neighbors around midnight Sunday that her SUV was being towed from its legal spot at her Dobson Avenue home, according to a CBS Chicago report.

Anne Scott confronted the towing company workers — at one point sitting on the SUV to try to get them to stop — but they wouldn’t stop or call for confirmation that they had the right car until police arrived, CBS reports.

Once they did call their dispatcher, they learned that they were supposed to tow a car down the street that was a different make and color. Scott has filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Illinois Commerce Commission, the station reports. A lawyer for Lincoln Towing, the company in question, said it is looking into the matter.
