Fallen Evanston Firefighters Honored Tuesday

The remembrance ceremony will be held at Fireman's Park.

The following is from the Evanston Fire Department:

The Evanston Fire and Police Departments will hold a remembrance ceremony on Tuesday, July 22, 2:30 p.m., at Fireman’s Park, to honor the lives of fallen department firefighters Marty Leoni, William Craig and George Stiles. This ceremony will also acknowledge other firefighters and police officers who have given their lives in the line of duty.

The public is encouraged to attend. Fireman’s Park is located at the corner of Simpson Street and Maple Avenue.

The 30-minute ceremony of remembrance will include:

  • Introduction by Division Chief Brian Scott
  • Fire Chaplain David Jones
  • Firefighter/Paramedic Jason Hays, “Fireman’s Prayer”
  • Fire Apparatus Operator Timothy Gobat, “Ed Crocker’s Speech”
  • Fire Honor Guards, “Bell Ceremony”

A picnic will take place following the ceremony.
