A 47-year-old Skokie man died Thursday morning in a car accident at Oakton Street and Callan Avenue in Evanston.

An early investigation indicates that the driver was driving a 2011 Acura and going east on Oakton at 6:14 a.m. when he "failed to negotiate the north bound turn," according to the Evanston Police Department. "The driver then struck the railroad embankment at a speed estimated to be higher than the posted speed limit for that section of the road."
