Evanston firefighters rescued a woman from the water Thursday morning after she got stuck between the rocks near the Church Street boat ramp area.
The woman, who is in her 30s, was walking along the rocks around 7 a.m. when she fell into the water, according to the fire department.
"Somehow she slipped, fell and got caught between the rocks," explained Division Chief Dwight Hohl.
Some people walking their dogs along the breakwall spotted her struggling and called 9-11. Evanston firefighters sent the department's personal watercraft team to extricate her from the water, according to the fire department.
The woman was taken to St. Francis Hospital for treatment.
"She was fine, except this time of the year, with the water being cold, a little hypothermia was setting in," Hohl said. "I think she’s going to be alright."
