Five Teen Girls Choke Fellow Teen at ETHS

Police Investigate Multiple Reports of Shots Fired

Police investigated reports that someone had fired a gun at the following times and locations over the weekend. In each instance, officers found no evidence of gunfire or offenders in the area.

Five Teen Girls Choke Fellow Teen at ETHS

Five known offenders choked their victim on school grounds in the 1600 block of Dodge Avenue at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, police reported. All individuals involved in the incident were juveniles, police said, and the incident was part of "an ongoing issue" between the girls. No one was injured.

Two Men Steal iPhone at ETHS

Two men grabbed an iPhone from their victim’s hand between 11:20 and 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, on school grounds in the 1600 block of Dodge Avenue, according to police. 

Woman Punches Victim in Mouth

A woman punched her victim in the mouth in the 1400 block of Cleveland Street between 6 and 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, police reported.

Man Kicks Victim in Face at Bar

Filip Vlasin, 32, of the 4800 block of North Albany in Chicago, was arrested and charged with battery after he allegedly kicked someone in the face at a bar in the 1400 block of Sherman Avenue between 12:23 and 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, according to police.

Arrests: Battery, DUI, Possession of a Controlled Substance

Jacqueline Banks, 41, of the 1800 block of Grey Avenue, was arrested and charged with battery at the police station at 3:43 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, police reported.

Sorin Steve Covaci, 48, of the 8500 block of Ebert Place in Niles, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Dodge Avenue and Howard Street, according to police.

Wayne Lamar Kennedy, 28, of the 1700 block of Darrow Avenue in Evanston, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance at 10:19 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in the 7500 block of North Sheridan Avenue, according to police. 

Robert J. Merschantz, 30, of the 7700 block of North Hermitage in Chicago, was arrested and charged with retail theft after he stole five sticks of Old Spice deodorant, two Conair beard and mustache trimmers, one Remington F3 electric shaver, one Conair 12-piece haircut kit and one Wahl Chrome Pro haircutting kit from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue at 12:24 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, according to police. 

Daniel Salles, 26, of the 9400 block of Hamlin in Evanston, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 1:12 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at his home, according to police.

Lorraine Wimberly, 47, of the 7600 block of North Sheridan Road in Chicago, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance at 11:25 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Church Street and Fowler Avenue, according to police. 

Burglaries on Ridge, Dempster, Florence

Someone forced open the patio door to a home in the 600 block of Ridge Avenue and stole an mp3 player, electronics and keys between 10:30 a.m. and 3:40 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, according to police.

Someone damaged the window of a business in the 1900 block of Dempster Street between 2:05 and 2:12 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, police reported. It is not known whether anything is missing at this time. 

Someone pried open the basement door of a home in the 1400 block of Florence Avenue and stole a table saw, hammers, screwdrivers and chisels between 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, and 7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, according to police. 

Cars Burglarized on Central, Grey Avenue

Someone damaged the front passenger side window of a 2009 Ford parked in a residential driveway in the 3600 block of Central Street between 1:30 and 7 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, police reported. 

Someone stole cash, a Jabra Bluetooth, a toll booth transponder and Bolle sunglasses from a 2006 Subaru parked in a business lot in the 2800 block of Central Street between 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, and 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, according to police. 

Someone stole a Craftsman car tool kit from a 1995 Ford with a broken door that was parked in the 1800 block of Grey Avenue between 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, and 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, according to police. 

Bikes Stolen On Keeney, Benson

Someone stole a silver and mint-colored women’s Trek bicycle from a garage in the 100 block of Keeney Street at 4 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, according to police.

Someone stole a black Cannondale bicycle that was locked up at the CTA station in the 1600 block of Benson Avenue between 5 and 10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, police reported.

Someone stole a silver, Giant men’s bicycle that was locked to a storage rack in the 1800 block of Central Street between 3:30 and 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, according to police. 

Thief Steals Christmas Tree on Reba

Someone stole a six-foot Christmas tree, steel shovel, garden hoe, hand shovels and a propane tank from a yard in the 800 block of Reba Place between 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, and 2:58 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, police reported. 

Lock Box, Keys Stolen On Payne

Someone stole a silver and black lock box with a set of keys from the porch of a home in the 1700 block of Payne Street between Dec. 2 and 15, police reported.

Package Stolen From Apartment Common Area

Someone stole a package containing a child’s mail from the common area of an apartment or condo building in the 100 block of Clyde Avenue between 7:20 and 8:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, according to police. 

Retail Theft: Red Bull, Monster, Tide Detergent

Two men stole Coke, Pepsi, Monster energy drinks, Red Bull and Tide detergent from a grocery store in the 1900 block of Dempster Street between 2:10 and 2:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, according to police. 

Vandals Puncture Tires, Damage Window

Someone punctured the front tire of a 2011 Ford parked in the 200 block of Hamilton Street between 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, and 7:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, police reported. 

Someone damaged a small window in the 2100 block of Wesley Avenue between 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, and 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, according to police.
