4 Teens Robbed Cabdriver With Weapon, Police Say

Officers are searching for the suspects in an armed robbery that took place around 3 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13.

Evanston police are searching for four teenagers who allegedly robbed a cabdriver early Monday, Aug. 13, by putting a weapon to the back of his head.

The taxi driver told police he picked up four young men, between the ages of 14 and 17, in the 1600 block of Monroe Street around 3:15 a.m, according to a press release from police.

As he was driving them toward Chicago, one of the teens placed a weapon to the back of his head. The cabdriver told police he believed it was either a knife or a gun. Meanwhile, another one of the teenagers demanded his money. He handed them $120, and the four young men ran away.

This is one of three recent armed robberies of taxi drivers in Evanston, one of which resulted in the driver's death.

Last May, a 19-year-old Chicago man was charged with armed robbery and first-degree murder. Darien Lawrence Marquez Connerly confessed to  when he attempted to drive away. The taxi driver, Leodis Blackburn of Best Taxi, at in Evanston.
