Fridge Stolen in Burglary on Oak

The following information was reported by Evanston Police on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013. Where arrests are included, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

Gunmen Reported On Hovland, Callan

Police investigated a report that a man was seen with a  gun in the 1700 block of Hovland Court between 11:06 and 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30.

Police investigated a report that a man was seen with a gun in an alley in the 100 block of Callan Avenue at 10:34 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, according to police.

Gunfire Reported On Hinman, Oak

Police investigated a report that someone fired a gun in the 500 block of Hinman Avenue at 1:52 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1. Nothing was found in the area.

Police investigated a report that someone fired a gun in the 800 block of Hinman Avenue at 11:38 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1. Nothing was found in the area.

Police investigated a report that someone fired a gun at 12:41 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3, in the 1300 block of Oak Avenue. Nothing was found in the area.

Arrests: Aggravated Assault, DUIs

Dwayne Alex Aiken, 56, of the 1800 block of Leland in Evanston, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault at 3:48 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, in the 1800 block of Hovland, police reported.

Demarcus Curtis, 22, of the 9900 block of Lyndale in Des Plaines, was arrested and charged with battery at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, in the 1800 block of Church, police reported.

Deighton Richie Gayle, 33, of the 1600 block of Darrow in Evanston, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 11:25 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in the 1900 block of Dempster Street, according to police.

Jonathan J. Gomez, 25, of the 900 block of W. 10th St. in Hobart, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 5:40 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, police reported.

Laburron Jackson, 28, of the 1700 block of West 17th St. in Chicago, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle at 10:25 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in the 1800 block of Foster Street, police reported.

Gary E. Logan, 53, of the 1800 block of Hartrey in Evanston, was arrested and charged with violating an order of protection at his home at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, police reported.

Peter Harold Nelson, 49, of the 8500 block of Grove Hill Road in Rockford, was arrested and charged with assault at 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, in the 800 block of Brummel Street, according to police.

Derrick K. Nesbitt, 52, of the 1800 block of Emerson Street, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault at 4:34 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, according to police.

Fridge Stolen in Burglary on Oak

Someone entered the open window of a home in the 1300 block of Oak Avenue and stole a refrigerator between 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, and 12 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, police reported.

Man Takes Brown Couch On Simpson

A man stole a three-year-old brown couch in a burglar in the 900 block of Simpson Street at 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, according to police.

Burglar Steals Computers On Lawndale

A man entered the unlocked door of a home in the 2400 block of Lawndale Avenue and stole a black HP laptop computer, gray Dell laptop computer, silver Sony computer, wallet, cash and two Apple cell phones around 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, according to police.

Vintage Sports Card Collection Stolen On Darrow

A man stole a vintage sports card and art collection from a bedroom in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue, police said.

Battery Reported On Bus

A man grabbed his victim by the arm on a bus at Asbury and Howard at 9:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 31, police reported.

Isuzu Stolen On Lyons

Someone stole a 1999 burgundy Isuzu Carryall with the license plate number 8929964 from the 1800 block of Lyons Street between 3 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, police reported.

Man Steals Five TVs On Noyes

A man used a key to enter an apartment or condo common area in the 2300 block of Noyes Court and stole five TVs between June 1 and Aug. 26, according to police.

Car Burglar Smashes Window, Steals Laptop

Someone smashed the front driver’s side window of a 2004 Toyota parked in the  500 block of Chicago Avenue and stole an Apple laptop computer and wallet between 12:45 and 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, police reported.

More Car Burglaries On Darrow, Harrison, Mulford

Someone used a tool to break into a 1997 Ford parked in the 1000 block of Darrow Avenue between 1:30 and 6 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, according to police. A Gemini electronics tower, power mixer, power strip, 10-inch speakers and miscellaneous cords and cables were reported missing.

Someone entered an unlocked 2012 Volvo in the 3200 block of Harrison and stole $5 in coins and black RayBans at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, according to police.

Someone entered an unlocked 2006 Nissan in the 3200 block of Harrison and stole coins between 12:31 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, and 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, according to police.

A man stole movers’ equipment, a backpack with contents, Blackberry and other items from an unlocked vehicle parked at Mulford and Sherman between 9:30 and 9:35 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, police reported. 

Thief Steals Cash, Credit Card at School

Someone stole cash and a Visa credit card from a woman’s purse at a school in the 1200 block of Davis Street between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, police reported.

Bikes Stolen On Madison, Elmwood, Dodge

Five men stole a 1981 pink Schwinn bicycle in the 2200 block of Madison Place between 4 and 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, police reported.

Someone stole a bike with a hook for a child seat on the handlebars that was locked up in an apartment or condo common area in the 1000 block of Madison Street at 9:58 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, according to police.

Someone stole an unlocked maroon Trek boys bicycle from an apartment or condo common area in the 1200 block of Elmwood Avenue between midnight Saturday, Aug. 31, and 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, according to police.

Someone stole an 18-inch white, blue and green Eddie Bauer bicycle that was left unlocked on a porch in the 2000 block of Dodge Avneue at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, police reported.

Thief Steals Phone On Hovland Court

Someone stole a white Samsung Galaxy cell phone and charger from a table in a yard in the 1700 block of Hovland Court between 10 and 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, police reported.

Man Steals Kid’s Dinosaur Backpack at Grocery Store

A man stole a blue and black children’s backpack decorated with dinosaurs and cash from a shopping cart at a grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue around 10:52 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, according to police.

Storage Lockers Burglarized On Grove

Someone used a tool to break into an apartment storage locker in the 1100 block of Grove Street, then stole a Trek road bicycle and Head tennis racket between 11 a.m. and 7:26 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, police reported.

Someone also used a tool to break into another apartment storage locker in the 1100 block of Grove Street between 11 a.m. and 7:26 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, according to police. A circular saw, jigsaw, drill and battery pack were reported missing.

Vehicle Sticker Stolen On Main

Someone stole a vehicle sticker from a 2001 Pontiac parked in the 800 block of Main Street at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, police reported.

Criminal Damage to Property

Someone bent the antennae of a 2006 Honda parked in the 2700 block of Gross Point Road at 3:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, police reported.

Graffiti appeared in the 2500 block of Bennett Avenue at 7:57 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, according to police.

Someone damaged the front passenger window of a 2005 Chevrolet parked in the 2600 block of Orrington Avenue between 6:15 and 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, police reported.
