Handguns, Ammunition Stolen in Burglary on Oak

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the :

Handguns, Ammunition Stolen in Residential Burglary

Someone pried open the front door of a condominium in the 1700 block of Oak Avenue between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29. He or she stole a Glock 40 caliber handgun, an H&K 9 millimeter handgun, 50 caliber ammunition cans, 9 millimeter and 40 caliber ammunition, a white Apple laptop, a silver Apple laptop computer, cash, check books, a 1.5-cubic-foot fire safe, a duffel bag, keys and a U.S. passport, according to police.

Someone stole an HP laptop computer by entering the unlocked window of an apartment in the 600 block of Case Place between 2 and 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, police reported. 

2012 Ford Stolen On Dempster Street

Someone stole a white and red 2012 Ford that was parked in a business lot in the 2100 block of Dempster Street at 1:32 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, police reported. 

Man Arrested, Charged With DUI

Mark Katrich, 20, of the 1100 block of Harms Road in Glenview, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, in the 2700 block of Crawford Avenue, according to police.

Assault On Sherman Avenue

A man assaulted someone in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, according to police.

Man Charged With Theft After Backpack Goes Missing From Locker Room

Bijon Norman Griffith, 28, of the 2400 block of Church Street in Evanston, was arrested and charged with theft after he allegedly stole a navy blue, orange and black “Skull Candy” backpack including its contents that was left unlocked in a locker room in the 1000 block of Grove Street around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, according to police. 

Man Charged With Possessing Firearms Without ID

Jerry Lee Kennedy, 57, of the 1700 block of Darrow Avenue in Evanston, was arrested and charged with possession of firearms without a valid ID card in the 1400 block of Elmwood Avenue at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, police reported. 

Man Charged With Possession of a Controlled Substance

Edwin L. Thomas, 46, of the 1700 block of Darrow Avenue in Evanston, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, in the 1400 block of Elmwood Avenue, according to police.

Bikes Stolen On Elmwood, Sherman, Dobson, Custer

Someone stole a white Zigo bicycle from an unlocked garage in the 1400 block of Elmwood Avenue between 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, according to police. 

Someone stole a red men’s Trek mountain bicycle that was locked up in a parking lot in the 1800 block of Sherman Avenue at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, police reported.

Someone stole a blue Schwinn mountain bicycle that was left unlocked in a yard in the 1100 block of Dobson Street around 4:04 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, according to police. 

Someone stole a red Trek bicycle covered in Grateful Dead stickers that was left unlocked in a yard in the 200 block of Custer Avenue around 7 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, according to police.  

Burglary From a Motor Vehicle

A man stole cash and a Visa credit card by reaching in the open window of a 2008 Ford parked in an alley in the 1800 block of Howard Street around 12:05 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, according to police. 

Someone stole a Garmin GPS from an unlocked 2002 Honda parked in the 1100 block of South Boulevard between 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, and 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, according to police. 

A man stole a wallet with its contents and a cell phone from the open window of a car in the 1800 block of Foster Avenue around 12 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, police reported. 

Thief Steals Purse, Phone From the Laundromat

A man and a woman stole a small patent leather purse with one strap and a Sprint 4G touch screen cell phone that were left unattended at a laundromat in the 700 block of Howard Street between 9:30 and 10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, police reported. 

Thief Steals Alcohol From the Grocery Store

A man stole alcohol from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, police reported. 

Graffiti Found on Chicago Avenue

Graffiti appeared in a park in the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, according to police.
