Judson Avenue Fire Causes $5-$700K Damage

Fire officials are still investigating the cause and origin of a fire in a historic house at 1301 Judson Ave., according to Evanston fire division chief Dwight Hohl.

Hohl estimated that the fire caused between $500,000 and $700,000 worth of damage. He said the fire department determined that the building was structurally sound and had turned it back over to the owner.

On Wednesday morning, one week after the blaze displaced 14 people from the 4-unit building, resident Tim Baron was moving his belongings out.

Baron said he suspected the fire was electrical and he believes it started on the second floor.
