Man Arrested With Shotguns, Marijuana, $900 Cash

Police executed a search warrant at a home on Darrow Avenue near Evanston Township High School, where they believed drugs were being sold. They arrested and charged a 29-year-old Evanston man.

Police arrested a 29-year-old Evanston man this weekend after they discovered several hundred grams of cannabis, nearly a thousand dollars in cash and two shotguns at his home at 1738 Darrow Ave.

The Evanston police department’s special operations group executed a search warrant on the property after they learned that drugs were being sold and that there were weapons present, according to a press release from the police department. When officers arrived at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, they found two loaded 12-guage shotguns, 287 grams of cannabis and $900 in cash, according to the release.

Police subsequently arrested Dennis Kennedy Coleman, 29, at the scene, and charged him with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis, possession of a firearm without a valid ID and unlawful use of a weapon. He is set to appear in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie on Tuesday, Sept. 11, according to police.
