Man Asks To Borrow Skateboard, Then Steals It

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:  

Arrests: Battery, Disorderly Conduct

A 38-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, police reported.

Randall Thomas Mercer, 32, of the 700 block of Grey Avenue in Evanston, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at 4:49 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, in the 1400 block of Elmwood Avenue, according to police. 

Joshua Samuel Morales, 19, of the 9100 block of Bennett in Skokie, was arrested and charged with battery at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the 1900 block of Jackson, police reported.

Report of Shots Fired on Mulford

Police investigated a report that someone had fired shots in the 800 block of Mulford Street at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17. Nothing was found in the area.

Burglary on Hartzell

Someone entered a garage in the 2500 block of Hartzell Street between 12:05 and 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, and stole an iPod, iPod adapter and cash, police reported. 

Attempted Auto Theft on Emerson

Someone damaged the steering column of a 1996 Chevrolet in an attempted auto theft in the 1500 block of Emerson Street between 10:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, and 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, according to police. 

Skateboard Stolen in Park

A man asked to borrow a skateboard in a park at the intersection of Florence Street and Church Avenue, then left the park with the skateboard at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, police reported. The skateboard was a 38- to 42-inch long board with a pink bottom, pink wheels and stickers. 

Car Burglaries on Michigan, Elmwood, Princeton

Someone entered a car in the 500 block of Michigan Avenue but took nothing between 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, and 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, according to police. 

Someone entered a 2012 Honda that was parked in the 1100 block of Elmwood Avenue and stole nothing between 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, and 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, police reported. 

Someone broke the window of a 2006 Ford parked in the 2600 block of Princeton Avenue and stole an 18 volt drill and other tools and equipment between 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, and 7 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 16, according to police.

Metal Handrail Stolen From Apartment

Someone stole a section of metal handrail from the common area of an apartment or condominium in the 800 block of Forest Avenue at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, police reported. 

Graffiti Found at Chicago and Main

Police say they found graffiti at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Main Street at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16.
