Man Offers to Move Car, Then Steals It

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

Arrests: Criminal Damage, Theft of Service

Trevor S. Ells, 20, of the 2300 block of Sheridan Road in Evanston, was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in the 700 block of Emerson Street, according to police.

Layton J. Jones, of the 2400 block of Church Street in Evanston, was arrested and charged with theft of service or labor at 12 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the police station, police reported. 

Gunfire Reported at Wesley and Dempster

Police investigated a report that someone had fired a gun at Wesley Avenue and Dempster Street between 9:45 and 10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3. Nothing was found in the area. 

Man Volunteers to Move Car, Drives Away With It

A man offered to move someone’s car, then drove away with it once he got in. The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, in the 1700 block of Monroe, according to police. The car was described as a four-door, dark blue 2006 Kia Spectra with the license plate N196361.

Thief Steals Dodge Caravan on Dobson

Someone stole a green 1995 Dodge caravan with the license plate 5522592 from the 900 block of Dobson Street at 1:22 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, police reported. 

Offender Hits Victim With BB Gun

Someone fired a shot at someone else with a BB gun pellet at 4:43 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, in the 2100 block of Howard Street, police reported.

iPhones Stolen From Purse, Desk

Someone stole a black AT&T iPhone 4S with a purple case from a purse in a department store in the 2200 block of Howard Street around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, according to police. 

Someone stole an Apple 16GB iPhone from a desk at a car dealership in the 1000 block of Chicago Avenue at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, police reported. 

Man Smashes Windshield at Gas Station

A man smashed the windshield of a 2000 Nissan while it was parked at a gas station in the 2400 block of Dempster Street between 2:01 and 10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, according to police.
