Man Shot Outside Old Orchard Mall in Skokie

A man was shot near the intersection of Golf Road and Skokie Boulevard on Friday, May 17, around 9:45 p.m., police said. The man suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen but was in stable condition Saturday morning, according to police.

A man remains in stable condition after he was shot in the abdomen near Old Orchard Mall Friday night, according to police.

Police responding to a complaint of shots fired found the man lying in the 4800 block of Golf Road, with a gunshot wound in his abdomen around 9:45 p.m., according to police. He was transported to a local hospital, said Skokie Police Chief Anthony Scarpelli. 

No arrests had been made as of Saturday morning, according to police.

Police from Skokie, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove and Wilmette, as well as the Cook County Sheriff's Department were on scene Friday night. The entire east side of the Nordstrom parking lot was sealed off with yellow caution tape.

Skokie police also blocked off access heading west on Golf Road from Skokie Boulevard to Lavergne Avenue.

Many area residents were at an Old Orchard Mall parking lot, just across the street from Niles North High School, for a carnival.
