Man Walks Up to Woman, Steals Computer

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

A man walked up to a woman and took her Apple laptop computer as she was sitting on the sidewalk in the 1500 block of Dewey Avenue at 2:35 pm. Friday, Aug. 2, according to police. The man did not say anything to her, police said.

Man Walks Up to Driver, Steals Keys to Car

A man walked up to someone as they were standing outside their car in the 1800 block of Lake Avenue and stole the keys at 10:52 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, police reported. 

Arrests: Battery, Domestic Battery

Ana M. Garcia, 49, of the 600b lock of Mulford in Evanston, was arrested and charged with battery at her home at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, according to police.

A 25-year-old Evanston woman was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 10:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, police reported. 

Gunmen Reported On Dewey, Reba, Brown

Police investigated a report that there was a man with a gun at Washington Street and Dewey Avenue at 2:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2.

Police investigated a report that there was a man with a gun in the 700 block of Reba Place at 1:41 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4.

Police investigated a report that there was a man with a gun in the 1700 block of Brown Avenue at 11:41 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2. 

Gunshots Reported On Colfax

Police investigated a report that someone fired a gun at 1:35 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, in the 2700 block of Colfax Street. Nothing was found in the area.

Burglaries Reported On Sheridan, Hinman, Sherman

Someone stole a Toshiba laptop computer from an unlocked apartment in the 500 block of Sheridan Road between 12:38 and 7:33 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, according to police. 

Someone stole a Westinghouse flat-screen TV from an unlocked apartment in the 800 block of Hinman Avenue between 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27, and 6:32 a.m. Sunday, July 28, police reported.

Someone stole a Canon digital camera and purse from a hotel in the 1500 block of Sherman Avenue between 12:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, and 8:50 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, according to police.

Bikes Stolen On Sherman, Davis, Central, Asbury

Someone stole two bicycles that were locked up in a yard in the 600 block of Sherman Avenue between 4:45 and 5:25 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, according to police.

Someone stole a dark brown, 10-speed Fuji bicycle with black tape on the seat post that was secured to a bike rack in the 900 block of Davis Street at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, according to police.

Someone stole a 21-inch black Giant bicycle that was locked to a rack in the 1800 block of Central Street at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, according to police. 

A man stole a black and brown 10-speed bicycle with two black saddle bags, a horn and lights on the front that was left unattended in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, according to police. 

Car Burglar Steals iPhone

A man stole an iPhone in a black case from an unlocked car parked in the 500 block of Kedzie Street at 12:33 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, according to police.

Woman Steals Artwork From Nursing Home

A woman was seen on camera stealing a sketch of an ostrich and a sketch of a giraffe, both in gold frames, from a nursing home in the 800 block of Foster Street between 3 and 11 pm. Monday, July 29, according to police.

Thieves Steal Package of Clothing, Computer Mouse, Salad Spinner, Brakes

A man stole a package with clothing from the common area of an apartment or condo in the 800 block of Hinman Avenue at 9:30 p.m. June 30, according to police. 

Someone stole an ABS brake system from a 2011 Ford parked in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue between 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 29, and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, according to police.

Someone stole a Logitech wireless computer mouse, Sandisk Micro SD card and salad spinner form the common area of an apartment or condo in the 1300 block of Elmwood Avenue between 4:25 and 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, according to police.

Mercedes-Benz Window Smashed

Someone broke the rear window of a 2005 Mercedes-Benz parked in the 1400 block of Oak Avenue between 9 and 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, according to police.

Vandal Puts Water Hose in Mailbox

Someone put a water hose in the mailbox at a business in the 1300 block of Oakton Street between 9:30 and 10:43 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, police reported.

Graffiti Appears on Hamlin

Graffiti appeared on railroad property in the 800 block of Hamlin Street between 6:13 and 6:32 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, according to police.
