An eyewitness told police he or she saw a man with a gun running after someone else in the 2000 block of Jackson Avenue between 2:05 and 2:08 p.m. Sunday, May 19.

Arrests: Aggravated Assault, Criminal Damage to Property, Retail Theft

Reginald Bernard Newton, 43, of the 5000 block of North Winthrop in Chicago, was arrested and charged with retail theft after he stole alcohol from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, May 19, according to police. 

Michaela C. Shannon, 23, of the 6900 block of South Cornell in Chicago, was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property at 5:11 p.m. Monday, May 20, in the 2400 block of Lake Street, police reported. 

Burglaries On Washington, Fowler, Pitner, Dodge

Someone forced open the door of an apartment in the 900 block of Washington Street and stole a Sony laptop computer and Samsung 21-inch television between 8:15 and 7:55 p.m. Monday, May 20, police reported. 

Someone attempted to pry open the garage door of a home in the 1100 block of Fowler Avenue between 12:01 and 7 a.m. Thursday, May 16, according to police.

Someone forced open a garage in the 1000 block of Pitner Avenue and stole an orange Husqvarna chainsaw, a black and gray Echo chainsaw and a yellow Impact wrench between 9 p.m. Thursday, May 16, and 6 a.m. Friday, May 17, according to police. 

Someone broke the window of an apartment in the 1800 block of Dodge Avenue and stole a black flat panel TV and DVD player between 6:40 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, May 20, according to police. 

Car Burglar Steals Cash, DVDs

Someone entered an unlocked 2010 Chrysler parked in the 1700 block of Greenwood Street and stole cash and DVDs between 9 p.m. Sunday, May 19, and 7:50 a.m. Monday, May 20, police reported. 

Copper Pipe Stolen From Haven Middle School

A man stole copper pipe from behind a locked fence at Haven Middle School between 3 p.m. Friday, May 17, and 6:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, according to police. 

Thieves Swipe Folding Bike, Lawnmower

Someone stole a Downtube silver folding bike with a blue led light on the bottom from an unlocked apartment storage locker in the 200 block of Kedzie Street around 5 p.m. Monday, May 20, police reported. 

Someone stole a rusty old lawnmower that was left unattended in a yard in the 2700 block of Lawndale between 11:35 and 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, according to police.

Someone stole a light teal blue Trek 2010 bicycle with white handlebars and a white seat from a storage area in an apartment parking lot in the 800 block of Elgin Road between 7 p.m. Sunday, May 12, and 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, according to police. 

Man Steals Cigarellos

A man stole a box of 30 cigarellos from a convenience store in the 800 block of Dodge Avenue at 4:19 p.m. Thursday, May 16, according to police.
