Masked Man Robbed Best Taxi at Gunpoint

The following arrest information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Armed robbery

A masked offender entered Best Taxi, in the 1500 block of Greenleaf Street, and robbed the store at gunpoint on March 8 around 8:17 a.m., police said. 

The culprit pointed a revolver at an employee and demanded money. He then fled the scene in an unknown direction with $200 in cash, according to police.

The suspect was described as a black male, about 5-foot-8 and 120-pounds, the report stated. 

Repair shop burglary

A laptop was reported stolen from a car repair shop in the 600 block of Hartrey Avenue on Mach 6. The device was valued at more than $500, police said.

Residential burglary

A home in the 1500 block of Dobson Street was reported burglarized on March 7. Missing from the home were several pieces of jewelry and cash.

The offender was described as a white female, about 5-foot-4 and 130-pounds, police said.

Vehicle vandalism

A car parked in the 800 block of Main Street was reported vandalized on March 7. According to the report, all windows were smashed out using a golf club.

Stolen statues

Several lawn statues valued at more than $500 were taken from outside a home in the 1000 block of Sheridan Road on March 10.

Stolen cell phone

A cell phone left unattended at a gym in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue was reported stolen on March 9.

Unpaid parking

A man ditched his bill after leaving a parking lot in the 800 block of Davis Street on March 6. According to the report, the offender lifted the gate and left without paying.

Stolen auto

A car parked in the 1600 block of Wesley Avenue was reported stolen on March 7. 

Business robbed

A dry cleaning business in the 2300 block of Nathaniel Place was robbed on March 9. The offender(s) broke the glass on the store's door to gain entry. Once inside, the person(s) removed an unknown amount of cash, the report stated.

Theft at hospital

A wallet was reported stolen from a hospital in the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue on March 7.

Auto part theft

A headlight was reported stolen from a car parked in the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue on March 10.

Shots fired

Police responded to a shots fired complaint in the 1800 block of Foster Street on March 10 around 1:10 a.m. According to the report, police checked the area but found nothing.

Apartment burglary

An apartment in the 300 block of Callan Avenue was reported burglarized on March 8. According to the report, three TVs and a Nintendo Wii were taken from the unit.

Domestic battery

A 53-year-old Evanston man was charged with domestic battery on March 7 around 11:47 a.m.

A 31-year-old Evanston man was charged with domestic battery on March 9 around 11 a.m. 

Aggravated battery

Kimberly Jackson, 45, of Evanston, was charged with aggravated battery on March 8 around 9:45 p.m. Jackson was arrested in the 1400 block of Elmwood Street. No further details were provided.

Battery

Brandi Summers, 29, of Evanston, was charged with battery on March 8 around 4:40 p.m. Summers was arrested in the 1400 block of Elmwood Street, police stated. No further information was provided.
