Mechanical or Electrical Problem Likely Caused Davis St. Fire

There is nothing suspicious about the blaze, the fire chief told the Chicago Tribune.

Stating there was "nothing suspicious" about the blaze that destroyed three Davis Street businesses Sunday, Evanston fire officials are saying the cause was likely a mechanical or electrical problem in a restaurant kitchen, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The Tribune quotes Evanston Fire Chief Thomas Janetske saying the preliminary indictions are that the fire started accidentally in the kitchen of the Pine Yard Restaurant.
The fire was first reported at Pine Yard Restaurant, at 1033 Davis St., at 2:24 a.m., according to the city. It spread to neighboring TechniColour Nail & Day Spa and Taco Diablo Restaurant, destroying all three establishments.

The damage was so severe that the building will need to be demolished soon.
