Men Steal Purse, Phone in Strongarm Robbery

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

Men Steal Purse, Phone in Strongarm Robbery

Two men demanded their victim’s wallet and cell phone, then took a coin purse and its contents, a dark blue Samsung flip phone cell phone, two Chase bank credit cards and an Illinois driver’s license at Garrett Place and Orrington Avenue between 1:50 and 2 a.m. Friday, May 24, police reported.

Gunfire Reported at Davis and Florence

Police investigated a report that a man fired a gun at Davis Street and Florence Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22. Nothing was found in the area.

Arrests: Strongarm Robbery, DUI, Retail Theft

Michael U. Ezenwa, 36, of the 500 block of East 45th Street in Chicago, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at 4:55 p.m. Thursday, May 23, police reported.

Gregory R. Kayser, 49, of the 800 block of Davis Street in Evanston, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence near his home at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, according to police. 

Alvin Keys, 36, of the 1900 block of Dewey in Evanston, was arrested and charged with disobedience to police at 12:05 a.m. Thursday, May 23, in the 1600 block of Foster Street, police reported.

Diana B. Saavedra, 57, and Tania A. Saavedra, 25, both of the 3100 block of North Kolmar in Chicago, were arrested and charged with retail theft at 4:21 p.m. Thursday, May 23, in the 2400 block of Main Street, police reported. 

Gary Leshaun Spearman, 18, of the 1800 block of Church Street in Evanston, was arrested and charged with strongarm robbery at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, in the 1600 block of Ddoge, according to police.

Woman Strikes Victim Outside Nichols School

A woman hit someone in the chest on the grounds of Nichols School between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, police reported.

Car Stolen From Gaffield Place

Someone stole a silver, two-door 2009 Hyundai with the license plate ARV 8723 from the 800 block of Gaffield Place between 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, and 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 23, according to police.

Car Burglar Steals Cash on Elmwood

Someone stole cash from an unlocked 2009 Nissan parked in an alley in the 100 block of Elmwood Avenue between 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, and 8:30 a.m. Thursday, May 23, police reported.

Theft: Laptop, iPhone, Food

Someone stole an iPhone in a pink case from a purse at the library in the 900 block of Chicago Avenue between 6 and 8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, according to police.

A man stole four bags of food and one six-pack of Coke from a restaurant in the 100 block of Davis Street at 5:18 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, according to police. 

A woman stole an Acer laptop worth more than $500 from a home in the 1400 block of Brown Avenue between 1 and 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23, police rpoerted. 

Someone stole an Apple electronic product with a black case from a locker room at Evanston Township High School at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23, according to police.

TV Knocked Down On Lake Street

A woman knocked the TV at a home in the 2400 block of Lake Street between 5 and 5:20 p.m. Monday, May 20, according to police.
