'My Baby!' Woman Screams as Carjacker Drives Off with Son

Listen to the 911 call from a frantic Park Ridge mother last week after a man drove off with her 5-year-old son in the car.

The story, thankfully, has a happy ending. But the raw anguish in the mother’s voice is palpable in the five-minute 911 call to police after she saw a man drive off in her car with her sleeping son inside last week.

The Chicago Tribune obtained the 911 call from the breathless and frantic woman. “Oh my god, my baby,” she wails “My baby’s in the car.”

The 5-year-old was found safe inside the car a couple hours later in an alley in Skokie. Police arrested an Evanston 18-year-old two days later. He’s been charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking, aggravated kidnapping and possession of a stolen vehicle.

The mother, who is pregnant, was unloading groceries in her driveway when the man drove off with the car and her son. She jumped on the car’s hood and screamed at the driver, telling him her son was in there, according to the Tribune. He drove off and she then called police.
