Open House for New Evanston Fire Explorers
Young peoples ages 14-20 can sign up for the program that gives them a birds eye view of what it takes to be a firefighter; hands on activities and classroom lectures are included.
A brand new program has been formed for Evanston youth ages 14-20, who are interested in learning about firefighting and emergency services.
The new Explorer Program, sponsored by Evanston Fire and Life Safety Services, will be showcased in an open house a week from today on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Participants in the program will meet twice a week, and practice real-life circumstances faced by firefighters and emergency personnel through mock situations and classroom lecture.

The program is co-ed, an will include proper protocol for emergency call, firefighter equipment usage, policies and procedures and team building.
An introduction to the program will be given at the open house, along with the opportunity for questions and a walk-through of the application process. Parents and guardians are asked to attend with minors.

The Evanston Fire and Life Safety Services Open House for the Explorer Program will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25 at Fire Headquarters.
