Pickpocket Bumps Victim, Steals Wallet at CTA Station

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

Gunfire Reported On Brummel, Dewey

Police investigated a report that someone fired a gun at 10:47 p.m. in the 1600 block of Brummel Street on Sunday, June 23. Nothing was found in the area. 

Police investigated a report that someone fired a gun in the 1100 block of Dewey Avenue at 9:52 p.m. Friday, June 21. Nothing was found in the area.

Pickpocket Bumps Victim, Steals Wallet at CTA Station

Someone bumped their victim, then stole a brown Coach wallet with its contents from the CTA station in the 1600 block of Benson Avenue at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, June 23, according to police. 

Arrests: DUI, Disobedience to Police

Jason Isiah Brown, 20, of the 900 block of Greenleaf in Evanston, was arrested and charged with disobedience to police at Custer and Reba at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 23, police reported.

David Guerra, 63, of the 4700 block of West Altgeld in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at McCormick and Golf at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, June 23, according to police.

Darlene Johnson, 49, of the 1200 block of West Leland in Chicago, was arrested and charged with resisting a peace officer at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22, police reported. 

Mark Livingston Matthews, 41, of the 300 block of Sherman Avenue, was arrested and charged with battery at 9 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at the police station, according to police.

Gabriel Orozco, 28, of the 1900 block of Grey, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, June 23, police reported.

Joshua Thomas Worth III, 21, of the 1800 block of Brummel Street, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass in the 600 block of Custer Avenue at 11:26 p.m. Sunday, June 23, according to police. 

Battery On Chicago Avenue

A man pushed someone at a mental health institution in the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue at 7:10 a.m. Sunday, June 23, police reported.

Burglaries On Barton, Hartrey, Callan, Sheridan

Someone used a tool to break into a storage shed in the 500 block of Barton Avenue at 7:28 p.m. Sunday, June 23, according to police. 

A man entered an unlocked home in the 200 block of Hartrey Avenue and stole cash, cigarettes, a black backpack and 20 bottles of cologne between 3 and 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20, police reported.

Someone entered an unlocked garage in the 600 block of Callan Avenue and stole a silver and black men’s mountain bicycle between 10:20 and 10:54 a.m. Sunday, June 23, according to police.

Someone damaged the lock of an apartment storage locker in the 500 block of Sheridan Road and stole a tool box of bike tools between 3 and 6:30 a.m. Sunday, June 23, police reported.

Theft

A man tried to cut a lock in an alley in the 600 block of Hinman Avenue between 9:10 and 9:15 p.m. Friday, June 21, according to police.

A man cut the lock and stole a black 21-speed mountain bicycle on the sidewalk in the 700 block of Reba Place at 7:57 p.m. Sunday, June 23, police reported.

Someone stole a woman’s leather wallet from a purse at a restaurant in the 500 block of Main Street between 1 and 3:45 p.m. Saturday, June 22, according to police. 

A woman stole clothing from a department store in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue between 12:27 and 12:55 p.m. Friday, June 21, police reported.

Someone stole a green mountain bike and grey mountain bike from an apartment parking lot in the 1700 block of Hinman Avenue between June 9 and 20, according to police.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

Someone damaged the rear driver’s side window of a 2006 Chevrolet parked in the 900 block of Sherman Avenue between 5 and 8 p.m. Saturday, June 22, according to police.

Criminal Damage to Property

Someone damaged a glass door with a brick in the 1700 block of Sheridan Street between 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, and 10 a.m. Sunday, June 23, according to police.

Criminal Defacement

Graffiti appeared on an apartment in the 1000 block of Dewey between midnight Thursday, June 20, and 1 p.m. Friday, June 21, according to police.
