Police Arrest Suspected Pizza Hut Robber

A man placed a handwritten note on the counter at Pizza Hut, 951 Howard St., saying "Give me the money or you are going to die," police said.

Evanston police arrested a Chicago man suspected of handing a Pizza Hut employee a note reading “Give me the money or you are going to die,” during a robbery Wednesday, March 27.  

A man entered the Pizza Hut at 951 Howard St. in Evanston around 8 p.m., and asked to wash the windows for money, according to police. He left without incident when a store employee told him declined the offer, police said.

The man returned about an hour later and placed a handwritten note on the counter that said, “give me the money or you are going to die,” according to police. He did not display a weapon or imply that he had one, according to police.

A store clerk handed $62 in cash from the register to the man, who took the money and the note and left the store. 

Based on surveillance video provided by Pizza Hut, Evanston police tracked down a man in the area of Howard Street who looked like the man in the video. They arrested Warren Morris, 35, of the 4200 block of Carroll in Chicago, and charged him with one count of robbery, police said.

Morris is set to appear in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, according to police.
