Police Arrest Woman With Loaded Gun During Traffic Stop

Evanston police charged a woman with unlawful use of a weapon after they discovered she had a loaded .25-caliber semi-automatic handgun in her purse.

A local woman faces felony charges after police discovered a loaded gun in her purse during a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Green Bay Road at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, according to police.

Dorothy L. Adams, 42, of the 1800 block of Grey Avenue in Evanston, is charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a felony, and two misdemeanor charges for possession of a firearm and possession of firearm ammunition without a valid firearm owner's ID.

Police say they found the gun and 31 rounds of ammunition while the vehicle was stopped.

Adams is set to appear in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, according to police.
