A man tried to rob a woman on Sunday night as she left work on the 700 block of Austin Avenue. Police said the woman was walking west on the south side of Austin at 11 p.m. on April 10 when a man came up to her on a bicycle and tried to grab her purse. She fell to the ground, hitting her head on the sidewalk. A co-worker then came to her rescue and shouted at the man, scaring him away before he could steal anything. The attacker abandoned the bicycle and fled on foot. He was wearing a gray hoodie, tan pants and white gym shoes.
