Four to six men broke down a kitchen door and came into the home of an elderly couple on the 600 block of Judson Avenue at 2:20 p.m. on April 14. One of them yelled, "It's a fire in the back!" before running upstairs and going through the couple's bedroom. The other men simply demanded money from the couple for drugs. The male victim said he didn't keep much cash in the house, but they went through his pockets and stole $35. The female victim tried to call police, but one man grabbed the phone from her and cut the phone line. She later escaped and ran outside, screaming for help, and stopping a passing car. The men fled the home by the time police arrived. They were described as white or Middle Eastern men from short to medium height between 25 to 40 years old.
