Police Blotter April 26: Nintendo Wii Swiped from Jourdain Center; Burglar Takes PlayStation, Mortal Kombat

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Battery

Dominique Adams, 20, of Chicago was arrested and charged with battery at 10:10 a.m. on April 23 at the Evanston Police Station. His court date is set for June 1.

A woman reported she was hit by a man at her house on the 500 block of Wesley Avenue at 10 p.m. on April 24.

Burglary

A man broke into a locked bedroom of an apartment building with a butter knife on the 300 block of Callan Avenue and stole a Sony Playstation and the Mortal Kombat video game at 5 p.m. on April 24. The suspect is a black man about 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds.

 

Theft

A 2011 Nissan was stolen off the lot at the Autobarn Nissan of Evanston sometime before 5:46 p.m. on April 24 on the 1000 block of Chicago Avenue. The car has no license plates.

Thieves stole a Nintendo Wii video gaming system, Wii controllers and Wii video games from the Fleetwood-Jourdain Center on the 1600 block of Foster Street at 12:13 p.m. on April 23. One of the three suspects was identified as a black male about 5-foot-3 and 125 pounds.

A purse was stolen from a restaurant on the 900 block of Davis Street at 2:42 p.m. on April 25.

A man took a Samsung cell phone from his acquaintance on a sidewalk at 3:50 p.m. on April 15 in front of the Evanston Township High School and did not return it. The suspect is described as a white male about 6-foot-1 and 118 pounds.

 

Vandalism

A tire was slashed on a 1994 Chevrolet at 10:05 p.m. on April 23 in an apartment complex parking lot on the 1500 block of Darrow Avenue. A suspect is described as a black woman about 5-foot-8 and 220 pounds.

The school grounds of the Lincolnwood Elementary School on the 2600 block of Colfax Street were found tagged with black spray paint at 4:48 p.m. on April 25.

 

Domestic Battery

A 24-year-old Chicago man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 4:33 p.m. on April 25 at the Evanston Police Station. His court date is set for May 11.

 

Disobedience to Police

Glenford G. Riley, 26, of Chicago was arrested and charged with disobedience to police at 4:59 p.m. on April 25 at the Kentucky Fried Chicken on the 1900 block of Dempster Street. His court date is set for June 15.

 

Trespassing

Adrian Ramirez, 19, of Chicago was arrested and charged with trespassing in Clark Square Park after hours at 11:47 p.m. on April 24 on the 800 block of Sheridan Road. His court date is set for May 12.

 

Marijuana Possession

Adnan R. Ebanks, 23, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 4:59 p.m. on April 25 at the Kentucky Fried Chicken on the 1900 block of Dempster Street. His court date is set for June 15.

 

Driving without a License

Demetrius L. Shavers, 29, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 8:20 p.m. on April 25 on the 1700 block of Brown Avenue. His court date is set for May 3.
