Police Blotter April 29: Man Struck at Train Station; Woman Charged with Battery

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Battery

A man punched someone in the face at the Davis Street El station at 10:02 p.m. on April 27. The suspect is described as a 6-foot-1 black man who weighs about 200 pounds.

Tianna K. Ramirez, 21, of Evanston was arrested and charged with battery at 4:23 p.m. on April 28 at the Evanston Police Station. Her court date is set for May 24.

Burglary

Someone broke out a window on a 1998 Toyota and stole cash, a Palm Pilot cord, CDs and two car head lamps between 6 p.m. on April 27 and 7:20 a.m. on April 28 as the car was parked on the 1800 block of South Boulevard.

A burglar broke out a window on a 1995 Toyota and ripped off the Sony stereo faceplate between 6:30 p.m. on April 27 and 8:50 a.m. on April 28.

A black and gray Schwinn bicycle was stolen from an unsecured storage locker between 5 p.m. on April 27 and 3:12 p.m. on April 28 on the 200 block of Lee Street.

 

Theft

A cork-top skateboard with blue wheels and a panther on the bottom was stolen at a party on the 800 block of Gaffield Place at 12:08 p.m. on April 28. The suspects are two white men.

A Samsung Gravity 2 cell phone and an Apple iPod Touch music player were stolen from an unsecured locker at the YMCA between 9 p.m. on April 26 and 9:05 p.m. on April 28 on the 1000 block of Grove Street.

A 12-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with retail theft at Dominick's on the 1900 block of Dempster Street at 4:22 p.m. on April 26.

A 13-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with retail theft at CVS/pharmacy on the 100 block of Asbury Avenue at 8:48 p.m. on April 28.

 

Vandalism

A ComEdison power meter was found damaged at 7:50 a.m. on April 28 on the 100 block of Custer Avenue.

A ComEdison power meter was damaged between 6 p.m. on April 21 and 9:40 a.m. on April 28 on the 700 block of Brummel Street.

 

Domestic Battery

A 16-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 7 a.m. on April 28.

 

Driving without a License

Pierre D. J. Miller, 24, of Morton Grove was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 4:46 p.m. on April 28 on the 1800 block of Darrow Avenue. His court date is set for June 8.
