Police Blotter April 6: Man Pushed off Bicycle; Burglar Loots House of Rare Coins

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Battery

Police said a man and a woman in their 30s shoved a man off his bicycle at 2 p.m. on April 5 on the 800 block of Main Street. The man's Schwinn Paramount bicycle sustained damaged to its carbon-fiber frame.

Burglary

A burglar forced open the back door of a house and stole collector's coins and a silver Dell laptop computer valued at $800 between 8 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. on April 5 on the 1400 block of Crain Street.

A burglar broke into a 2001 Honda and stole a bag of cleaning products, a bag of tools, a lawn chair and a Blackberry cell phone charger between April 3 and April 5. The items were noticed missing at 4 p.m. on April 5.

 

Theft

A pickpocket stole a black leather wallet from the victim's back pocket between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on April 3 on the 2400 block of Main Street.

Someone stole a blue duffle bag from a church basement between 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on April 5 on the 1700 block of Benson Avenue. The bag contained a pair of khakis, multicolor blankets, a gray sweatshirt, white blouses and four pairs of underwear.

 

Vandalism

The tires of a 2000 Pontiac were slashed while it was parked in a garage on the 1300 block of Main Street between 7 p.m. on April 4 and 6 p.m. on April 5.

The driver's side window of a 1998 Acura was broken out while it was parked on the street on the 2200 block of Washington Street on April 3 and April 4.

A window was broken out on the east side of a house between 1:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on April 5 on the 700 block of Milburn Street.

Someone broke an apartment window out at 1 a.m. on April 5 on the 800 block of Washington Street.

Someone put a hole in the living room of a window on April 5 on the 2100 block of Brummel Street.

 

Driving under the Influence

Anton A. Malone, 38, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 11:31 p.m. on April 4 on the 2400 block of Dempster Street. His court date is set for April 14.

 

Driving without a License

Jose R. Alvarado, 56, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 10:59 a.m. on April 5 on the 500 block of Sherman Avenue. His court date is set for May 17.

Damoon Forouzi, 31, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 2:15 a.m. on April 6 on the 1200 block of Austin Avenue.

Skyler T. Lee, 27, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 12:26 a.m. on April 6 on the 500 block of South Boulevard. The court date is set for April 28.

Christian A. Perez, 21, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 8:45 p.m. on April 5 on the 100 block of Custer Avenue. His court date is set for April 28.

Eduardo Ramirez, 19, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 6:56 p.m. on April 4 on the 300 block of Custer Avenue. His court date is set for May 5.

 

Evanston Alcohol Ordinance

Charles T. Killheffer, 19, of Evanston was arrested and charged with violating the Evanston alcohol ordinance at 11:29 p.m. on April 4 on the 1200 block of Elmwood Avenue. His court date is set for April 25.

 

Shots Fired

Two gunshots were heard at 11:57 p.m. on April 5 on the 800 block of Seward Street.

A loud noise like a gunshot was heard at 2:34 a.m. on March 31 on the 1800 block of Ashland Avenue.
