Police Blotter Aug. 12: Two More People Robbed of Phones, One at Gunpoint

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Robbery

Three men robbed someone at gunpoint at 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 9 on the 800 block of Dodge Avenue. They stole cash and a Huawei Cricket phone. The suspects are black males, one about 5-foot-5, one about 5-foot-7, and one an unknown height.

Three men implied they had a weapon and then robbed someone on the sidewalk of a first-generation Apple cell phone and an Apple iPod music player at noon on Aug. 11 on the corner of Dobson Street and Ridge Avenue.

Sex Abuse

Alex F. Mitchell, 18, of Evanston was arrested and charged with criminal sexual abuse at 1:25 a.m. on Aug. 11 on the 1200 block of Oak Avenue. His court date is set for Sept. 8.

 

Battery

A man and a woman allegedly stole canned food and personal hygene products from the CVS/pharmacy at 5:21 p.m. on Aug. 10 on the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue. When confronted by police, the man allegedly hit an officer. Willie J. Jackson, 53, of Evanston was arrested and charged with aggravated assault at 5:30 p.m. on the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue. Amanda J. Sabin, 31 of Evanston was arrested at that same time and location and charged with retail theft. Her court date is set for Sept. 13.

Carl D. Massie, 51, of Evanston was arrested and charged with assault at 8:56 p.m. on Aug. 10 on the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue. His court date is set for Aug. 31.

Chris J. McGuire, 54, of Evanston was arrested and charged with battery at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 at the Evanston Police Station in connection with a past assault allegation. His court date is set for Aug. 31.

 

Burglary

Four men allegedly stole cash from an unlocked 2001 Honda at 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 10.

A burglars slashed the window screen of an apartment, but failed to break in between 4:30 p.m. and 5:10 p.m. on Aug. 11 on the 500 block of Elmwood Avenue.

 

Theft

An employee of Sam's Club allegedly stole a small amount of cash from the store at 6:30 p.m. on July 31. Police arrested Yasser J. Mohammad, 28, of Chicago at noon on Aug. 11 on the 2400 block of Main Street. His court date is set for Aug. 31.

Middaliz Pellacia, 43, of Justice was arrested and charged with petty theft at 4:56 p.m. on Aug. 6 on the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue. Her court date is set for Sept. 8.

An Apple laptop computer was stolen from the Martin Luther King Lab school between 9:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 11 on the 2400 block of Lake Street.

An unlocked, black specialized Hardrock bicycle was stolen from someone's lawn between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Aug. 10 on the 2300 block of Pioneer Road.

An unlocked, blue Raleigh bicycle was reported stolen off the sidewalk at 11:20 a.m. on Aug. 11 on the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue.

 

Domestic Battery

A 19-year-old Evanston woman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and a 19-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with domestic battery after an incident at 11:35 p.m. on Aug. 10 on the 800 block of Dodge Avenue. His court date is set for Aug. 17. Her is set for Sept. 8.

 

Arrest Warrant

William Colmorgon-Starr, 37, of Prospect Heights was arrested on a warrant at 12:35 p.m. on Aug. 9 on the 3300 block of Central Street.

Donald E. Davis. 53, of Evanston was arrested on a warrant at 6:18 a.m. on Aug. 7 on the 1700 block of Payne Street.

Sergio Garcia, 40, of Skokie was arrested on a warrant at 1:24 a.m. on Aug. 8 on 1200 block of Oakton Street.

 

Driving without a License

Carl L. Bogan, 27, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 9:23 p.m. on Aug. 11 on the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue. His court date is set for Sept. 15.

Karina Lopez, 29, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 12:34 p.m. on Aug. 10 on the 3500 block of Central Street. Her court date is set for Sept. 8.

La Shae D. Moulton, 24, of Winthrop Harbor was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 3:42 p.m. on Aug. 10 on the 3000 block of Simpson Street. Her court date is set for Sept. 15.

 

Trespassing

Andre F. Wildy, 50, of Evanston was arrested and charged with trespassing at the Burger King on the 1700 block of Orrington Avenue at 5:41 p.m. on Aug. 11. His court date is set for Sept. 2.

 

Open Alcohol Container

Donald A. Reese, 47, of Evanston and Kim L. Whitewing, 47, of Evanston were arrested and charged with having an open container of alchol on public property at 5:21 p.m. on the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue. Their court date is set for Aug. 19.

 

Vandalism

Gang graffiti was sprayed on a house between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Aug. 11 on the 600 block of Sheridan Square.

Graffiti was found scribbled on the wall of the Evanston Public Library at 5:21 p.m. on Aug. 10 on the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue.

 

Shots Fired

Gun shots were heard at 11:13 p.m. on Aug. 10 on the 500 block of Judson Avenue.
