Police Blotter Dec. 13: $1,200 Stolen from YMCA; Man Charged with Stealing Bath Drains

The following arrest information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Burglary

Burglars broke into an office at the YMCA Children's Center on the 1400 block of Maple Avenue and stole $1,200 from the office closet between 7 p.m. on Friday and 6 a.m. on Monday. The office door had pry marks on it, but the inner closet was apparently unlocked.

Someone broke into an unlocked 2008 Honda and stole cash, a garage opener and a GPS device between 8 p.m. on Sunday and 6:10 a.m. on Monday on the 2000 block of Bennett Avenue.

Theft

A man allegedly hid three bath drains worth about $70 each inside a cabinet he purchased at Home Depot, and then tried to walk out of the store at 4:35 p.m. on Saturday. Police arrested Walter Martinez, 42, of Chicago at 5 p.m. on the 2300 block of Oakton Street and charged him with felony retail theft. His court date is set for Thursday.

An unlocked bicycle was reported stolen from an apartment common area at 10 a.m. on Friday on the 1700 block of Chicago Avenue.

A garbage can was reported missing from an alley of the 1100 block of Hinman Avenue at 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Reckless Discharge of a Firearm

Deshawn J. Thomas, 19, of Evanston at 1:09 a.m. on Saturday on the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue. His court date is set for Thursday.

Vandalism

An interior door of an apartment was reportedly damaged between 8:10 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. on Monday on the 1500 block of Greenwood Street.

Arrest Warrant

Antonio D. Scott, 20, of Chicago was arrested on a warrant at 9:25 p.m. on the 1800 block of Hartrey Avenue. His court date is set for Jan. 11.

 

Domestic Battery

A 38-year-old Evanston woman was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 11:45 p.m. on Friday on the 800 block of Washington Street. Her court date is set for Dec. 21.

A 27-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 7 a.m. on Saturday on the 100 block of Clyde Avenue. A court date is set for Wednesday.

A 49-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 10:18 a.m. on Saturday at the Evanston Police Station. His court date is set for Dec. 21.

Driving without a License

Carlos A. Guadarrama-Radilla, 25, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 4:39 p.m. on Monday on the 3000 block of Central Street. His court date is set for Jan. 12.

Hongyi Li, 24, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 3:30 p.m. on Friday on the corner of Sherman Avenue and Foster Street. A court date is set for Jan. 11.

Tamara L. Miller, 44, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 11:30 p.m. on Monday on the corner of Ridge Avenue and Hull Terrace. Her court date is set for Feb. 7.

Odain D. Richards, 18, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday on the 500 block of Custer Avenue. His court date is set for Jan. 24.

Shots Fired

Gun shots were reported at 6:39 p.m. on Thursday on the 1600 block of Greenwood Street.
