Police Blotter Dec. 14: Six Males Jump Teen on Dodge; Man Charged with Assaulting Cop

The following arrest information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Assault & Battery

Six males jumped out of a black Toyota sedan at 5 p.m. on Tuesday and attacked a 17-year-old Evanston boy walking down the street by James Park on the 300 block of Dodge. The victim told police that they knocked him on the ground and kicked him repeatedly. He said he didn't know the attackers, who were described only as black males in dark clothing. The teen had no visible injuries, but complained of muscle aches.

A Chicago man has been accused of making a bunch of noise in the middle of the night and then telling a police officer, “I'll kill you,” when he was asked to stop. Police arrested Quentin O. Smith, 20, and charged him with aggravated assault and disturbance of the peace at 1:34 a.m. on Tuesday on the 500 block of Chicago Avenue. Smith allegedly violated a city ordinance against yelling and shouting between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. His court date is set for Jan. 19.

Burglary

Burglars busted the locks on an apartment door and stole a laptop computer, a camera and jewelry between 9:20 a.m. and 10:04 p.m. on Tuesday on the 2500 block of Wellington Court.

Theft

Gregory K. Mosley, 53, of Evanston was arrested and charged with retail theft at 11:49 p.m. on Dec. 7 on the 900 block of Chicago Avenue. His court date is set for Thursday.

A purse and a flip phone were stolen from a church kitchen on the 600 block of Lake Street between 11:25 a.m. and 11:35 a.m. on Sunday.

An Apple iPhone was taken from a purse on the corner of Sherman Avenue and Davis Street at 4 p.m. on Monday.

Two Chicago teenagers were arrested and charged with retail theft at 6:52 p.m. on Tuesday on the 2300 block of Howard Street. The one boy, a 14-year-old, was charged on two counts of theft from Home Depot and one from Office Max. The other, a 15-year-old boy, was charged just with the one count of theft from Home Depot.

Vandalism

Someone broke the Christmas lights around a yard on the 1600 block of Church Street between 11 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday.

A 1996 Saturn was egged at 11 p.m. on Monday in an apartment building parking lot on the 900 block of Dobson Street.

Two tires were slashed on a 1998 GMC between 1 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. on Tuesday on the 1300 block of Washington Street.

Driving without a License

La Toya N. Williams, 21, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 5:49 a.m. on Monday on the 100 block of Grey Avenue. Her court date is set for Feb.9.

Latoiya C. Holt, 31, of Champaign was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday on the corner of North Sheridan Road and West Juneway Terrace in Chicago. Her court date is set for Dec. 27.
