Police Blotter Dec. 19: Two Skokie Men Arrested: One Charged with Biting; the Other, Candy Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Battery

A man allegedly bit and scratched another man's chest and hand in a scuffle at 4:42 p.m. on Friday at a house on the 1200 block of Darrow Avenue. Terrence P. Winslow, 23, of Skokie was arrested and charged with battery and criminal damage to property. Police said he also knocked out a window at the residence. His court date is set for Thursday.

Theft

A man allegedly stole 52 boxes of candy from the Sam's Club on the 2400 block of Main Street at 3:25 p.m. on Thursday. Dharamdas B. Shah, 65, of Skokie was arrested and charged with retail theft at 4:15 p.m. Police said he ordered and bought some candy online, then placed a used sticker on $870 worth of candy he had not ordered or paid for. His court date is set for Jan. 5.

Two men stole a Dyson DC41 Animal vacuum and a water faucet between 1:50 p.m. and 1:55 p.m. on Saturday at Home Depot on the 2300 block of Oakton Street. They left in a 2007 Hyundai.

A man reportedly stole an Apple iPod music player from a 2001 Ford at 4:01 p.m. on Friday on the 1900 block of Emerson Street. The suspect is a black man about 5-foot-7 and 140 pounds.

A purse was stolen from the kitchen of a resale shop on the 1400 block of Sherman Avenue between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Dec. 4.

A small man's black pea coat was stolen from the Evanston Athletic Club between 1:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday on the 1700 block of Benson Avenue.

Vandalism

A garage door was damaged on the 1200 block of Madison Street between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The rear passenger door of a 2007 Mercedes-Benz between 8:30 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. on the corner of Judson Avenue and Dempster Street.

Marijuana Possession

Andre Epps, 20, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 6:49 p.m. on Sunday on the 900 block of Chicago Avenue. His court date is set for Feb. 9.

Christopher Tobin, 37, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 1:40 a.m. on Thursday on the 1900 block of Dempster Street. His court date is set for Thursday.

Driving without a License

Jose M. Chavez, 25, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 2:40 a.m. on Sunday on the 1000 block of Dobson Street. His court date is set for Jan. 19.
