Police Blotter Dec. 20: Woman Makes Threats with Metal Object; Man Stopped for Making Scene

The following arrest information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Assault & Battery

A woman allegedly waved a metal object at another woman at a house on the 1800 block of Dodge Avenue at 9:31 a.m. on Saturday. Tracy S. Williams, 36, of Evanston was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and violating an order of protection. Police said Williams also had been barred from the house, where her mother resides. The assault was alleged against a 20-year-old woman who is not related to Williams. Her court date is set for Jan. 11.

A man pushed an acquaintance between 8:05 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. on Saturday in a parking lot on the 2200 block of Howard Street. The suspect is a Hispanic man about 5-foot-3 and 180 pounds.

A male battered someone on the Evanston Township High School grounds at 12:36 p.m. on Saturday on the 1600 block of Dodge Avenue.

Disturbing the Peace

Police said an Evanston man interfered with a DUI arrest in the wee hours of Monday morning and began yelling and screaming. He allegedly also refused to leave the scene. Austreberto Garcia-Medina, 27, was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and disobeying a police officer at 2:35 a.m. on the 400 block of Callan Avenue. Police said they were in the midst of arresting George Leon, 27, of Chicago, on DUI charges, when Garcia-Median approached them. He allegedly yelled into the night and was asked to leave. He started to walk away, shouting and cussing at them, but turned around and walked back, when he was arrested, police said. His court date is set for Jan. 6.

Burglary

A burglar broke the door of a garage on the 2100 block of Dobson Street and looted the place of hand tools and power tools between 7 p.m. on Dec. 14 and 7 a.m. on Thursday. Among the items stolen were: a Skilz circular saw, Craftsman lithium-power drill, cases of screws and bolts, a Craftsman biscuit joiner, four-inch and six-inch leveler, stapelers, Bostitch mitre saw, Milwaukee circular saw, an 18-volt Milwaukee cordless drill set, a Milwaukee circular saw, Porter cable cords, a Plunge router, Bostitch nail gun, hammers, nails and tools.

A burglary broke into an unlocked 2006 Toyota at 11 p.m. on Dec. 11 on the 2200 block of Noyes Street and stole camera/photo equipment and two sets of wireless headphones.

A burglar broke into an unlocked 2003 Mitsubishi and stole old electronics gear and a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses between 7 p.m. on Dec. 11 and 9 a.m. on Dec. 12 on the 2300 block of Hartrey Avenue.

A burglar entered an unlocked 2006 Mercury on the 1600 block of Colfax Street between 9 p.m. on Dec. 14 and 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, but nothing was taken.

Theft

An Evanston man allegedly stole DVDs, food and a flashlight from the Dominick's supermarket on the 2700 block of Green Bay Road at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. Darryl L. Cosby, 55, of Evanston was arrested and charged with retail theft at 5:55 p.m. His court date is set for Jan. 5.

Francis Asante, 36, of Deerfield was arrested and charged with petty theft at 8:35 p.m. on Monday at the Evanston Police Station. His court date is set for Jan. 19.

Vadim Iosim, 37, of Skokie was arrested and charged with retail theft at 2:58 p.m. on Monday at the Cook County Courthouse on the 2400 block of West Belmont Avenue in Chicago. He has a court date of Jan. 19 at the Cook County Courthouse in Skokie.

Keith D. Stevenson, 40, of Chicago was arrested and charged with retail theft at 12:22 p.m. on Saturday at the Jewel-Osco grocery on the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue. His court date is set for Jan. 19.

A woman reportedly took a man's money while he lay sleeping at 6:30 a.m. on Monday on the 700 block of Custer Avenue. The suspect is a black woman about 5-foot-7 and 180 pounds.

Two black men about 6-foot tall stole mail off a front porch on the 1200 block of Oakton Street between noon and 12:05 p.m. on Friday.

A thief broke into an unlocked office at St. Francis Hospital between 11:30 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. on Dec. 14 and stole cash, a Motorola cell phone and a credit card.

Vandalism

A public building was vandalized with gang graffiti between 2 p.m. on Dec. 9 and 10 a.m. on Thursday on the 1700 block of Main Street.

Graffiti was found on railroad property on the 600 block of Main Street at 10:51 a.m. on Monday.

Driving under the Influence

George Leon, 21, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 2:40 a.m. on Monday on the 400 block of Callan Avenue. His court date is set for Feb. 9.

 

Trespassing

Kenneth E. Clinton, 53, of Chicago was arrested and charged with trespassing at 4:10 p.m. on Sunday at Jewel-Osco on the 2400 block of Howard Street. His court date is set for Jan. 5.

 

Driving without a License

Jamaul Belton, 21, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 3:29 p.m. on Monday on the corner of Wesley Avenue and Oakton Street. His court date is set for Feb. 7.
