Police Blotter Dec. 21: Burglars Loot House; Two Cars Stolen

The following arrest information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Theft

A gray 2004 Acura RSX hatchback was stolen off the street between 8:15 a.m. on Monday and 8 a.m. on Tuesday on the 500 block of Sheridan Square. An Apple iPod music player, a satellite radio and a TomTom GPS device were inside the car when it went missing.

A beige 1997 Nissan Altima sedan was stolen from the parking garage at St. Francis Hospital between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday on the 300 block of Ridge Avenue.

Anita L. Bester, 51, of Evanston was arrested and charged with retail theft at 3:43 p.m. on Monday on the corner of Golf Road and McCormick Boulevard. Her court date is set for Jan. 5.

A wallet with $600 cash and a Florida driver's license was stolen from a secured locker in the YMCA between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday on the 1000 block of Grove Street.

Burglary

Burglars broke into a house on the 1500 block of Florence Avenue between 9:15 a.m. on Sunday and 10:15 a.m. on Monday and looted the place. They stole two Apple laptop computers, an Apple desktop computer, an Apple iPod, two cell phones, car keys, a diamond ring and a wedding band. The computers were worth $5,100; the phones, $350; and the iPod was worth $450. No value was placed on the jewelry. The homeowners had been out of town and a friend checking the mail noticed the burglary. Pry marks were found on the back door, but police believe the culprits came in through an unlocked window.

Child Endangerment

Suzanne M. Weaver, 47, of Chicago was arrested and charged with endangering the health and life of a child at 9:40 p.m. on Sunday on the corner of North Sheridan Road and North Rogers Avenue. Her court date is set for Feb. 23.

Battery

A male allegedly punched someone in the face on the grounds of Haven Middle School on the 2400 block of Prairie Avenue at noon on Monday.

 

Driving under the Influence

Gregory T. Jackson, 25, of Des Plaines was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 10:29 p.m. on Monday on the corner of Noyes Street and Keystone Avenue in Skokie. His court date is set for Feb. 7.

 

Obstructed Identification

Marco T. Navarro, 33, of Chicago was arrested and charged with obstructed identification at 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday on the 2000 block of Church Street. His court date is set for Feb. 23.
